The innovative platformer Red Goddess: Inner World has once again been delayed. The game was originally slated to release in Q1 2015 but was delayed in February with a new release date for April. Now the game has been hit with a further delay which pushes the release window out by another 2 months. In truly odd fashion, the game is now releasing on the PS4 6 months before the game is released on any other platform, including PC an Xbox One.

A spokesman for Yanim Studios stated in their backer update;

“We’re tuning and polishing Red Goddess to make it more fun. This means that we’re paying attention to detail, getting everything perfect, there are still a few more finishing touches required before launch. However, we regret to inform you that Red Goddess will be delayed. Red Goddess for PlayStation 4 in late June 2015, while Windows, Mac and Linux PC and the console versions for the Xbox One will arrive in December 2015. The Wii U and Vita consoles will arrive on 1Q 2016”

Red_goddess1The TL;DR version –
The PS4 version of Red Goddess will release in late June 2015.
The Xbox One and PC versions will release in December 2015.
The Wii U and PSVita versions of Red Goddess will arrive in Q1 2016.

This release strategy is an odd one as the majority of games that are funded through Kickstarter take the opportunity to release on Steam Early Access or other PC distributors first due to the lower cost of entry. This could point towards a deal between Sony and Yanim Studios to include Red Goddess: Inner Worlds within the PlayStation Plus Instant Games Collection for July or that the studio are focusing on the PS4 version as it is the nearest to completion.

Yanim Studios have been quite forthright with the information that they have been struggling to get the game running on both the Wii U and PSVita as the game is built in Unreal 4 and neither platforms support the engine natively.

To soften the blow of the further delay, Yanim have released a short new trailer detailing an improvement they have made to the map system;

Other improvements that have been added during the numerous delays are a new fireball power, an in-game shop, new memory crystal collectables which unlock new powers, a voice over for the narrator, tweaks to dialogue interactions, improvements to the platforming sections at the beginning of the game and improved AI throughout.

Discussing the delay a spokesman for the studio said;

“The object of Red Goddess is to experience a series of adventures in an imaginary world, through a young goddess whose skills and powers grow as time goes on and she recover the memories. We would like the players to become immersed in a story and we’re working on. The team wants to deliver the best possible game at release, rather than a game they’re not 100% happy with, and will use the extra time to add voice-overs for the narrator character, as well as a number of bug fixes to make for a well-polished experience. Yanim Studio takes this matter seriously and will continue to update everyone as soon as we can. We would like to apologize for the delay and inconvenience that this has caused.”
