There can never be too many top-down shooters, amirite? Helldivers is set in an apocalyptic future on a randomly generated map where up to 4 players must complete tasks while trying to survive. The game will also feature a difficulty level called “Hell Dive” – obviously this will not be a walk in the park.
Salt and Sanctuary
Salt and Sanctuary is being labelled as “the 2D Dark Souls” and if you just sat up straight to pay attention, this game is for you. Brutally difficult, dark and with bosses and platforming sections which will make you tear your hair out, Salt and Sanctuary is coming to the PS4 in 2015.
It’s time to don your robe, team up with your pals and rid the dungeons, caves and magical forests of evil doo’ers. Magicka 2 is coming to the PS4 as a console exclusive in 2015.
Let It Die
Formally known as Lily Bergamo, Let It Die is a free-to-play hack and slash adventure game which dials the hyper violence up to 11. Coming from the mind of Suda 51 – famous for Killer7, No More Heroes and Killer Is Dead – Let It Die will feature a new perspective on “death” in a game. When your character gets shifted off its mortal coil, it will drop into a different game to do battle again.
Announced at PSX 2014 and coming from SCE San Diego, Kill Strain is still a bit of a mystery. What we do know is that it will feature a unique 5 vs. 2 vs. 5 team structure and that player feedback from the beta will play a heavy part in shaping the games progress.
Dungeon Defenders II
More Tower Types. An expanded roster, featuring 24 characters at launch. The same addictive game play. Dungeon Defenders II is releasing as a free-to-play PS4 console exclusive in 2015.
I have attempted to write a description of VisionEck several times but have utterly failed. It is quite possibly the most bizarre game on this list thanks to unique game play mechanics and stark visuals. VizionEck is a first person shooter that ties its bold visuals directly to the game play, with different coloured walls, floors and objects having an effect on the game play. VizionEck is releasing exclusively for the PS4 in 2015.
Orcs Must Die! Unchained
The two previous Orcs Must Die! games were, at heart, tower defence games but Unchained is adding offence to the tried and tested defence formula. Orcs will die when this releases as a PS4 console exclusive in 2015.
Have we missed any PS4 console exclusives? We will update this list periodically throughout the year so head to the comments section and let us know what we have missed. You could also reach us at Twitter or at our Facebook page.
