Remember back in the day when Sony released their first PlayStation certified phone, the Xperia Play? Well that wasn’t the greatest sucess thanks to woeful games collection and rubbish memory. Well, Sony are trying it again, but approaching from a different angle. Instead of installing games on the device and having a slide out controller, they are taking a leaf out of the PS Vita’s play book and having games stream from your PS4 to the Xperia Z3 via the excellent remote play feature.

Controls are handled by your trust PS4’s DualShock 4 and some kind of stand contraption that lets you hold your screen in place while you play away. I’m not sure if this device comes with the phone (it really should)  not only is this awesome, it also sorts out all the rubbish issues with touch screen controls.

From a mobile point of view, the Xperia Z3 is the latest smartphone from Sony and features 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 screen, for a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch and 600 nits of brightness, so the graphics should be crystal clear when gaming on the move.

There is no exact release date for the Z3 but it’s expected sometime in September
