So timed exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider hasn’t sold so good according to reports. The UK sales of the Square Enix reboot has sold just 63,000 copies, that’s way down compared to the sales of the first game which topped 183,000.
This could be attributed to a couple of reasons. Firstly, Rise of the Tomb Raider was released at the same time as arguably the biggest game of the year, Fallout 4. Secondly, this was a timed exclusive with Microsoft. Who, let’s be fair have been pushing Fallout 4 and various bundles and not really focused much attention on Rise of the Tomb Raider. I’m sure the sales would have been much greater had the game been released on both machines.
Still, I’m sure Square Enix had made enough money from the big M for the exclusive deal that they can’t be too worried.
UK sales: Rise of the Tomb Raider < 63,000 (Tomb Raider debuted selling around 183,000 units).
