GTA Online for PlayStation 3 has enjoyed 2 years of free updates, not bad going, but it’s all about to come to an end.
Frankly I’m still amazed that Rockstar managed to get GTA V and its online features working on the older consoles in the first place. But if any PS3 gamers out there want more, then Its time to upgrade to the new generation version. Which is no bad thing because it’s phenomenal.
Next weeks New GTA Online additions, such as free mode, the new spontaneous open-world events will not be coming to PS3, It’s not clear if this extends to the Rockstar editor which is also due to hit very soon. Apparently all the new fun Rockstar has to offer just isn’t possible of the tech of the older consoles
“As we mentioned previously, we always knew there might be a point where we would reach the technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle as each downloadable update requires additional memory both for assets and for additional scripting. We have continued to optimize the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last-generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall.”
I think it’s fait to say that Rockstar have done a brilliant job with all of GTA V on PS3, one of the finest games ever crafted.
